Monster Pitch 2014 (L to R): Interim Dean, Goodman School of Business, Don Cyr;  Corporate Director, Deborah Rosati; Monster Pitch Winner, Johnathan Holland, (student Currency Xchange); CEO Spara Capital, Jason Sparaga; CBC Dragons’ Den, Bruce Croxon and Jim Treliving.

Spara Capital were proud sponsors and participants of Brock University’s Goodman School of Business’ Annual Business Plan “Pitch Contest” affectionately known as Monster Pitch.

Jason Sparaga,  CEO and Founder of Spara Capital, and graduate of Brock University’s Accounting Program, returned to his Alma Mater to join Jim Treliving and Bruce Croxon of CBC’s Dragons’ Den  and fellow Brock Alumni, Deborah Rosati as judges of the event.

Students who had been pre-selected on the strengths of their proposals pitched the judges for a $3,000 grant to help enable their business idea.  The well-attended event was organized by the Brock University Entrepreneurship Club.

Johnathan Holland, a third-year finance student, won this year’s event with a ‘student currency’ pitch that focused on helping international students save money by negotiating a preferred currency conversion rate when moving to Canada for school.
